If you’ve been listening to The Weekly Stuff Podcast for any length of time, you know that one of our favorite things to discuss is the Japanese RPG series Persona. So throughout the month of April, once Persona 5 was released in the US, we did big spoiler-chats on the podcast every week as we progressed through the game – talking about all the characters, story points, gameplay systems, and much more. We thought it would be fun for posterity’s sake to collect all these spoiler chats into one giant episode, either to make it easier for listeners to revisit in the future, or for those who haven’t played the game yet but might want to listen to our conversations one day. Plus, we thought it would be funny to release a giant 10-hour podcast and surprise everyone. In any case, we hope Persona fans find this fun and interesting and useful. Please refer to the time chart in the show notes to know where different parts of the discussion start and end. Each of the first four parts covers two Palaces or Story Arcs, and the final part gives some more general thoughts on the Confidants and the game’s story and themes in general.

On the second podcast of the week, we finally deliver our long-promised Twin Peaks retrospective. With the show returning a full 25 years later for a new 18-episode run this weekend, we thought it high time to finally dive into one of our favorite TV series of all time and, by extension, into the wonderful world of the great David Lynch. We discuss the entire TV series, talk about our favorite characters, revisit our favorite episodes, count down the 10 stupidest subplots from the back half of Season 2, journey into the heart of darkness that is Fire Walk With Me, and even provide some great quotes from David Lynch and company on the production and philosophy of the series. It’s as comprehensive a conversation as we could provide within one episode, and sets us up well to talk about the revival when it debuts this weekend. And candidly speaking, it’s one of my very favorite episodes we’ve ever had the chance to record.
